QAYG Layer Cake BoM

Started on 26th January 2022 to get us all back into the swing of things after the break of COVID. The free PDF patterns are available to download for perpetuity, simply click on the pictures in the gallery below.

This BoM (block of the month) is designed to be done QAYG (quilt as you go), but you don’t need to do that if you don’t want to. Each block is made up of sixteen HSTs (half square triangles), which are made with four 10″ squares.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

• A Layer Cake – browse our Layer Cakes here
• 55cm of ‘background’ fabric – this should tone in with your chosen Layer Cake, because you need an extra six 10″ squares

If you are going to do it as QAYG, you’ll also need:

• 1m of a 108″ wide backing fabric or 12 fat quarters
• 1.5m of a 90″ wide wadding
• 20cm for the front sashing
• 25cm for the back sashing
• 50cm for the binding
