MAIL ORDER SERVICE
We offer what we like to call a ‘retro’ mail order service. We invite you to browse items from the shop online, make a note of what you would like to purchase and then give us a call on the telephone for an efficient and personal service. Click one of the not-very-retro links below for more information.
Craft is all about doing. That’s why we hold daily classes every week and regular workshops where you can learn new skills in new crafts, or develop existing skills in a much-loved one. Keep checking back as we add new events all the time.
We are a quilting shop and classroom rooted in our local community, with the idea that we should be here for everyone, whether they are a professional or have never picked up a needle before.
Julia started Step by Step in 1999 with her business partner, Anne, after a career in adult education, realising that her home craft classes deserved a wider audience. When Anne retired, Step by Step relocated to their present premises.
After studying at university, Julia’s daughter Emily joined the team and now runs the shop/haberdashery. She also runs some of our workshops and classes and is always on hand to help out with craft and fabric-related queries.
The team has been made complete with the addition of Molly, the border terrier. An active if erratic member of staff, you can find her interacting with the customers or, more often, having a power nap in the window.
If you can’t get into the shop and want to see what we’re up to, what new stock is in, or you fancy trying a new approach at home, check our blog. We’ll be sharing techniques and ideas for different ways of getting to grips with your latest project. And probably a lot of pictures of Molly the dog.
